Black Cod Seas - Over $200 spent on Dramamine
In August 2018, after a difficult break up, I ran away to Alaska. I worked in a seafood processing plant cutting meat from fish heads and getting coated in Halibut slime in the ice holds of ships. Three weeks after I arrived I was offered a job on a Black Cod longliner and I set sail on what would be my foray into the exhilarating world of commercial fishing. We would fish 150 miles off shore in the Bering Sea and Wester Gulf of Alaska for 20 hours a day. The stars out there were beautiful. I may have spent the first 48 hours throwing up into a bucket and smearing puke covered snot onto my sweatshirt but I continue to work as a commercial fisherman to this day.
